General Information

 

The National Institute of General Medical Sciences will host the Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) 50th Anniversary Symposium on the NIH campus the morning of July 17, 2014.  This event will be preceded by the NIH Office of Intramural Training and Education Graduate and Professional School Fair on July 16 and followed by the annual meeting of the AAMC GREAT Group M.D.-Ph.D. Section beginning in the afternoon on July 17.

The symposium will be held from 8:00 a.m. – noon in the Masur Auditorium of the NIH Clinical Center (Building 10) on the NIH campus in Bethesda, Maryland.  There is no cost to attend the NIH symposium.  However, we do ask that you register so we can anticipate the attendance and to enable sharing of contact information among interested participants.  The event will be VideoCast live at: http://www.videocast.nih.gov.

The purposes of this symposium are to:

·         Showcase the breadth of unique scientific contributions made by M.D.-Ph.D. trainees and the role of the MSTP program in facilitating them.

·         Disseminate information about the outcomes of M.D.-Ph.D. training.

 

·         Inform, discuss, and motivate the implementation of recommendations arising from the report of the Physician Scientists Workforce Task Force of the Advisory Committee to the Director, NIH.
