The MORE Division, NIGMS will conduct a Technical Assistance Workshop for MARC program directors, potential MARC program directors, and others who have an interest and intend to apply for the MARC U-STAR program for the May 25, 2009, application deadline. The purpose of the workshop is to inform applicants of changes to the MARC program and to offer guidance about the new program. The workshop will be held on Friday, February 13, 2009, from 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. in the Natcher Building (Bldg. 45), Room E1/E2 on the NIH campus in Bethesda, MD.
Attendees are requested to thoroughly review the new MARC T34 program announcement (PA-07-337) http://grants2.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/PAR-07-337.html before attending the Technical Assistance Workshop and bring in for discussion a statement of how the proposed MARC-U*STAR program will have an institutional impact of the number of students going on to biomedically relevant Ph.D. programs.
In order to participate in the workshop, teams of two individuals from each institution are required. These teams should consist of the proposed MARC program director and an institutional official at the level of dean or higher (e.g., dean, provost or vice provost of academic affairs, or president). Arrangements for travel and subsistence are the responsibility of attendees. Funds from active NIH grants, including MARC, cannot be used to defray the cost of travel and subsistence. Registration for this workshop is required by February 10, 2009.
We hope to see you February 13, 2009!
